Product Description:

The Zamp RZ-59 is a grey starter helmet designed for budget-conscious consumers. As part of the Zamp brand, known for providing quality helmets at affordable prices, this model promises style and protection.

My Experience:

I had a significant crash at Daytona Milton Keynes, UK, in a Rotax kart, testing the helmet’s protective features. The overall design is stylish, and the visor options are commendable, though accessories are limited.

However, my major concerns revolved around fitment and comfort. The helmet felt insecure on my head, moving noticeably during head movements. Even after a crash, the helmet had only cosmetic damage.

During small enduro races, discomfort became pronounced after the 30-minute mark, with the helmet pressing into the top of my head at an awkward angle. Additionally, it always felt slightly misaligned, pointing to the left.

Despite being budget-friendly, I eventually switched to a Bell GT5 due to the persistent discomfort. Surprisingly, the Bell in the same size provided a better fit with no pain or movement issues.

The helmet boasts a composite fiberglass shell, providing both durability and reduced weight. However, ventilation is limited, with minimal forward venting and scalp/exhaust vents.

The plush fire retardant interior enhances comfort and safety. The Z-20 Series 3mm Shield with Tear Off Posts, featuring 12.25in center posts, contributes to visibility and ease of use.

An added feature is the M6 inserts for head and neck restraints, catering to additional safety measures for users.

Why and Which Types of People Buy It?

Ideal for budget-conscious individuals seeking a stylish, matte black helmet with a focus on lightweight design and adequate safety features. Recommended for entry-level users engaging in karting or similar activities.

Final Verdict:

“Zamp RZ-59: Budget Style with Compromises”

While the Zamp RZ-59 offers an attractive budget option with commendable safety features, its drawbacks in fitment and comfort, especially during prolonged use, may impact the overall experience. If you plan on longer races, consider testing the helmet extensively before deciding.
